The first match of MCL 09 lived upto its expectations with some thrilling
action from both sides.
The toss was won by Nisarg and Deewar (DWR) decided to bat first. A good
solid start by the team and a fine half century by Manas Makani saw DWR
reach a total of 126 in their quota of 20 overs.
In reply, The Inglorious Bastartds (IB) lost their captain on the very
first ball of the innings and they were off to a shaky start. Over after
over IB fell apart as the DWR bowlers ripped through IB's batting line up.
DWR went for the kill and reduced IB to 41/9. But Rishi of IB had
different plans and made sure that DWR does not trample them. He and
Saurav put together a 63 run partnership for the 10th wicket (notably a
record in MCL) to keep alive IB's hopes and the duo won many hearts with
their splendid fight back. But that turned out to be valiant as Rishi
holed out at long-on trying to clear Taher over the boundary line. And
this way team Deewar won the opening match of MCL'09 by 23 runs.
Man of the Match: Manas Makani for his 62 runs off 52 balls.
